Munnar… a honeymooner’s paradise!!

                                             A view of Munnar

It has been my plan to go on a honeymoon to Munnar (a hill station in the state of Kerala,India) since my engagement. But we had to change our honeymoon destination due to some reasons. After five years of marriage, my dream has come true and my husband and me set off to Munnar along with our four year old son.

By the time we reached Munnar, it was night 11.20. We had not eaten anything since that evening and were full of hunger. As soon as we stepped down the bus, that cool breeze made us tremble though we were fully covered in woolen. Hot hot idlis, omelet and parotas were being made by road side vendors. In that cool breeze, in the midnight, eating hot hot idlis is an unforgettable experience.

We immediately checked into the hotel which we had already booked. The next morning I got up at around 6.45 A.M, ordered some coffee from the restaurant and opened the windows of our room to get a view outside. It was amazing!!! Though it was very cool, I didn’t feel like closing the windows. Awesome look outside!!!

We set off our sight seeing in an auto rickshaw and enjoyed thoroughly every single moment of our journey. Every view is picturesque and full of greenery. Especially for those who come from cities where only concrete roads and high rise buildings are a common sight, the views of Munnar are memorable throughout their life.

If you want to enjoy all places in Munnar, I would suggest four full days for your trip. Food in Munnar is never a problem, but keep money ready in purse. Don’t rely on ATM. Whether you go on a honeymoon trip or as a summer destination with family, Munnar will perfectly fit the purpose.

Here are some of the scenic views which I want to share with you:

A beautiful lotus in the Botanical Garden. This garden is a home of hundreds of varieties of plant species.

Tea estates are a common sight in Munnar and are a feast to your eyes.

Luckily we could spot two baby elephants grazing in the greens while traveling in auto.

Never ending tea estates yet again.

Madupetty dam, awesome view of calm water amidst hills.

                                      Workers at tea estates

                                  An elephant at Elephant Ride

                                           Jungle Honey Bee Nest

                                   Beautiful Nyayamkad Water falls

Fig tree at Spice Garden. This garden contains all the spice and condiment species and you will really learn a lot once you visit this garden.

                     Beautiful flower at Botanical garden

Milky white water falls amidst green hills..

Clouds literally pass over your head, be prepared to kiss them!!
